As of April 1st 2011 all dental practices were required to be compliant with the Quality Care Commission’s regulatory requirements.
In January 2010 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) took over regulatory control of dental services and gave all dental practices until April 2011 to meet new regulatory standards in 21 seperate areas as diverse as sterilisation, disability discrimination, fire safety and safe disposal of hazardous materials.
When in January 2011 the practice changed hands it was compliant in none of the 21 areas. After a huge amount of hard work behind the scenes by staff both old and new, significant disruption caused by a major building programme and very large investment in the new upgraded sterilisation suite, 66 Dental submitted for assessment, and are delighted to have been registered with no recommendations regarding further improvements.
